Hammers wage bill is near maximum limit (according to Hughie)
Hammers Wage bill is near maximum limit

Sources close to West Ham have revealed to ClaretandHugh that the players annual wage bill has reached £57m this summer leaving just £1m in wages before this season's Premier League Financial Fair Play limit is reached. West Ham are unlikely to have increased retail or commercial income last season after a bumper season before so £58m is likely to be the upper limit this season to comply within the rules.

The release of Joe Cole, Jack Collison, Alou Diarra and George McCartney released around £7m off the wage bill while the end of loans for Roger Johnson, Pablo Armero, Antonio Nocerino and Marco Borriello is thought to have released the equivalent of another £3m off the wage bill.

The seven new Hammers signings have added a combined weekly wage including employers national insurance of around £244,000 adding over £12.4m to wage bill.

Although the Financial Fair Play limit was £54m last season West Ham actually had more than £61m available after Commercial revenue rose from £7.9m to £13.9m and retail sales were up from £4.8m to £6m in our first season back in the Premier League. Under Premier League FFP rules this extra commercial revenue gave the club another £7.2m to spend last season if they wanted to.

The remaining £1m this season could be used as £19k per week or £38k per week as part of a six month loan, any outbound players sold would also release further wages from the wage limit.

Claret & Hugh is full of shit. He is very good at sound legit, but really he's just got a clever little scam going. He guesses stuff, says that it is based on inside sources, and gets a shit load of hits on his website which earns him a bit of pocket money.

He nearly always gets stuff wildly wrong, and when he get it right it's pure fluke - the odds are that if you make a load of guesses, occasionally you'll be right.

I could easily have a site and write about how Micah Richards will undergo a medical today, get loads of hits, and actually know shit all about inside dealings.

Potential "sources" inside the club:

- toilet cleaner
- tea boy
- kit man
- Janice in ticket sales.

'Sources inside the club'

Bless hugh. Fair play to him for spending his time doing his little website and trying to keep us in the loop, but he really does just make shit up. I doubt anyone from the club is really likely to talk to him. Hack and dump on here and that chappy off kumb are far better bets

Can't we write off at least 50% of Carroll's wages on the basis that he won't play for at least half of the season. Who knows come January we might even be able to sell him!

Last season the club mentioned FFP a number of times. This season they haven't so to me that suggests it isn't an issue.

Kenzo hit the nail on the head! Nolan out!

I'm sure a few more will be out the door too to make way for these other couple of signings that look on the cards.

"If I were them I'd break the rules and take the hit."

I think that is EUFA FFP rules. The Premiership also operate FFP under different rules. Where is hammer 74 on the one occasion he could be useful...

Man City broke the FFP rules. They are fined £50 million and punished by reducing a European squad from 25 to 21.

They still take a title and the prize winnings from the Premiership (They earned £96 million out of that), as well as the prize money for a Champions League place (£30-40 million), and the revenues that comes with it for matches etc.

We're not in Europe, we can't get thrown out of it, even if you do break the rules, your european position is still intact.

If I were them I'd break the rules and take the hit.

FFP is like the West stocking up on nukes and then stopping the rest of the world doing the same. Bit annoying if you're not in the West.

FFP is the biggest load of Bollocks anyways, it's just a way of stopping the smaller clubs from over spending to try and create a level playing whilst allowing the bigger clubs to spunk Russian and Arab money like there's no tomorrow.
We might aswell over spend by 5-6 million and take the slap on the wrist. Then again DG was a massive supporter of it and no doubt his intentions were good but you cannot justify sky high prices and not make some real moves in the transfer market.
